Our Cultural Resources Management Program is composed of two components: an Archaeology Program and a Native American Interaction Program.

The integration of these two components has produced many positive Project-wide initiatives. For example, if we plan to disturb the land in an area, we identify whether the action would affect any cultural resources, then take mitigating action. In some cases, we’ve relocated work to other areas to avoid disturbing the resources.

The Project enlists local Native Americans to work side-by-side with archaeological field crews to identify cultural resources and collect artifacts and data. Whenever collected artifacts are returned to the field we arrange for a tribal spiritual leader to conduct appropriate ceremonies for such actions.
